As a second step to aide your meditative bath, add the feelings of peace and harmony to your meditation. The healing element that I suggest you add is the fire of candle-light. One of the benefits of these candles is that they produce a variety of colors. These colors hold certain healing properties that are released when they are lit.

  • In the 17th century Sir Isaac Newton began studying light by splitting sun-light into its component colors, as it were. He used a prism to produce a spectrum. The prism refracted white light, splitting it into seven bands of color – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
  • These colors are referred to as primary and secondary colors … or as the Angels call them, the healing colors. Our bodies select from sun-light whatever colors are needed for balance and healing.
  • Certain candle colors provide healing when they are lit   …   and when we mentally attend to them during meditation. These colors vibrate. And the vibrations are absorbed into us, helping us to meditate and to balance unbalanced energy vortexes (or chakras).

A third element that can aide your meditative bath is salt. Sea salt is very effective in relaxing the body   …   but it also serves a dual purpose by its cleansing of any negative energy which may be clinging to the outer shell of you and your energy vortexes (or chakras). Grains of salt will help to relax your muscles and to soften your skin   …   and in a more subtle way, to purge the outer shell of your chakras.

A fourth consideration for your ritual meditative bath is the consideration of the element air. Air moves through the bellows of our vocal cords, wind pipe, and lungs – the wind beneath your wings, so to speak. Successful meditation is typically linked to controlled breathing. Essential oils added to your bathing waters may invite you to breathe more deeply   …   and in so doing, to become more conscious of breath control. Two important tasks are accomplished with controlled breathing.

  • One, the deeper and more even your controlled breathing becomes, the better you are able to meditate.
  • Two, a brain flooded with oxygen usually aides to release stress from the mind.

Lavender and rose essences are two of my personal favorite oils. Lavender calms the mind and allows for healthy relaxation and sleep. Rose essence conjures love in the heart chakra (the massive energy vortex within the core of your chest). The essence of the rose will help grant you peace of mind as your meditation turns to a troubled relationship. Different essential oils are available. Try a few, enjoying the process as you find the ones that work best for your personal meditation.

Meditation is either enhanced or defeated with the addition of peaceful music. Some people find that the sound of flutes, bells or drums adds to their ability to attain a higher state of meditation. Other people find any noise, including music, to be a distraction – even an annoyance. Experiment with different forms of music and see if it helps your sense of peaceful meditation.
